Had a chance to take my "niece" Jacquelyn to the MTC a few weeks ago. (Ok... so maybe not my niece, but her mom Nat has been my lifelong BFF... probably the first friend I remember... and my kids called them their cousins and I don't know what I would have done through school and YW and BYU and boyfriends and life without Nat).
Jacquelyn is amazing and it was so exciting to be a part of it. They live in DC she flew in the morning of her scheduled time. Cam and Kenzi and I picked her up, made a quick trip to In-N-Out Burger (a tradition with us) and headed to Provo.
Loved seeing the line of cars entering the MTC, love seeing the petrified missionary faces, loved seeing the weepy family members, loved the guy that told us "you have 2 1/2 minutes to get her luggage out, take a picture and say goodbye." Loved the spirit and everything about it.
Long Beach is one lucky mission!!!!

She had a great theme and did a super fun 30 second "skit/intro" -- I think the basketball player one if my favorite.
Love this year how she has tried so many new things, takes risks and works so hard (and thanks Grandpa and Wendy Steenblik!!).

I love that at one point in their lives all kids idolize their moms! When Kenzi was in preschool at least 3 times I day she would say "Mom, you are so beautiful! Dad is so lucky to have married you!" I think I heard that from her every day for about a year.
So this morning Cam and snuck into our bed and about 6:00 am he woke up, looked at me and said, "Mom, you are the most beautifulest mom in the whole world... even when your hair is messy. I love you, I love you, I love you!" This random, but welcomed comment was followed by a big kiss, a huge hug and then turned over and immediately fell back to sleep.
Too bad my kids grow out of this stage!! (Except for when they want something and they know if they start the sentance with "beautiful mom" their chances of getting what they want increase significantly... )
