I've Been Crushing on Her for 6 1/2 years!!

On the way home from school yesterday my carpool kids (the 1st grade ones) were confessing their crushes. Porter mentioned Addie Baker... with a 2nd from Cameron. Paige and Cameron said everyone thinks they have a crush on each other.

Then Cameron proudly announced his real crush. He said he has a crush on someone and "I have been crushing on her for 6 1/2 years!"

You guessed it -- M O M he proudly spelled.

Oh that kid knows just what to say to melt my heart!!!

The Year of the Missionary

I love missionaries... who doesn't. But during the last severals years we've been blessed by having multiple nieces and nephews serve mission and getting to read their letters each week. The older my kids get the more I appreciate the chance we have to sit at breakfast and read their letters as I laugh and cry and learn so much from them. It really makes me jealous I didn't go when I was younger.... my one regret in life so far!

2010 has been especially full. In March Trevor Jones got his mission call to Argentina (yes I guessed it). Very cool... especially cause we were at the Jones' and got to have a conference call with everyone when he opened it. We got to see him before he went to the MTC and do a session in the SL Temple.

Then Bethany got her call to Santa Rosa California. Never before have I seen a person so nervous to open a call... she was just praying it was in the US. We got to got through the temple with her, watch her get ready and love reading her fabulous missionary letters that she swore she would never right.

Next Doug came home from Africa. We love having him home, but I've got to say -- I do miss his letters. Funniest ones I think I've ever read. My favorite was the one he told us the "rap" as we read. Did it and Cam loved it.

And just last week Kelli left for the MTC to go to Chile... Dave was so excited. Again got to go through the temple with her and then she and I did sealings and she, Jacque and Lauren did baptisms together. Never seen someone spend so much time reading, going to the temple, and preparing for a mission. (Sorry... didn't have my Camera at her house so no pix.)

I am so blessed to have so many great cousins for my kids to look up to and for me to learn from. We had Adam, Scott, Toph and Tara... and as my kids get older and can appreciate the letter one letter from them speaks volumes to all of us. I love that both girls and boys in our family have gone -- you are all the BEST. Love you!!!!

The Trip to Logan -- Happy Birthday Dad!

For Grandpa/Dad's birthday this summer the kids and I decided to take him for a day in Logan. Tara met us up there and we started at Blue Bird's where his dad used to make chocolates. We then went to the house he grew up in and reminisced as we saw the big old tree and explained to the kids where the rose garden used to be. The temple was next on the list and we laughed about how they used to sled down the streets. We then drove by the house where Grandma lived when they were dating... where it all started according to Grandpa. We saw Grandma and Grandpa Wall's graves, went to a yummy Mexican restaurant for a birthday fiesta and ended up a the U of U creamery for icecream. Before leaving town we found an old friend of Grandpa's who is a painter. We had a great time watching Star Trek episodes and looking at his painting. We ate way too much but had a great time reliving all of his wonderful Logan memories!!!

Field trips, field days, Cameron's baseball team, Kenzi's school butterfly, visit with the Jones', Lauren's school play, end of the year party and more. (Will I ever learn it would be easier to just keep up on things?!?!)

Funky Field Trip

Cameron's Kindergarten field trip was actually a walk to Rocket Park for an hour with the craziest guy I've ever met (I still think that is what Gavin needs to be when he grows up). They had creatures -- big and small -- spiders, snakes, alligators and the kids got to touch, feel and learn. I've never heard so many screams in a 1/2 hour event... when Darth Gator came out or the huge snake that 12 kids had to hold together. It was one of the best field trips ever!!!

A Perfect Summer Day!

In order to enjoy summer vacation to the fullest, we decided to spend the last day of summer vacation at the lake. Scott & Madi & Jonah, Kerri, 2 of Madi's sisters, Lauren Spencer and the Hess family went to Deer Creek for a day of wave runners and water fun. We had a huge tube that holds 3-4 people, we took the blow up canoe and found ourselves a private little spot with an island across the way.

At the beginning of the day Cameron was freaking out in the canoe, wouldn't go on the tube and refused to go on the wave runner. By the end of the day he was canoeing all over by himself, and with Dave on the back driving way too fast and crazy on the wave runner.... too fast for me!!!

It was perfect weather -- sunny but not hot, because it was a weekday no one was there, and despite Dave's near killing Madi and Lauren, we had a great time. Back at the cabin we enjoyed a BBQ and a great lazy morning. Our new favorite summer tradition....
